I found this butterfly amongst some of the shrubs in my backyard. Surprisingly, the butterfly stayed fairly still. I really loved the turquoise blue on its wings.

It's funny the same flower and plants in the background and the butterfly is almost the same too!

That's so funny! It truly does look like the same species of butterfly and the exact same flower. I am horrible at reconising different species of butterfly, but I think that this one is a zebra swallowtail.

Ha. Yeah, truly funny... When you think about it, we are so far... you in Spain and me in California, USA and we captured a photo so similar :giggle:

Wow, you're so lucky to have a beautiful butterfly like that in your backyard, even if just for a moment.

I had to go to a butterfly exhibit to get nice pictures of butterflies.

Very similar to this picture I took

Thank you for the sweet comment. My mum and I had plan certain flowers to attract hummingbirds (they were too fast for me to capture with my old camera) and butterflies. The butterflies usually came to the flowers in the later afternoon when the sun was starting to set.

~Wow, it must have been incredible to visit the butterfly exhibit. I would love to go to one of those.

Wow!
The garden must be really special to your and your mum.
I grew up in an apt. in the city and we don't get backyards to plant pretty gardens.. if I had a garden I would do the same, plant everything that attracts pretty little creatures like butterflies and hummingbirds, and any other insect who would like to come by.

And YES, the butterfly exhibit was beautiful. My bf took me to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, we took pictures of everything and we were about to go home when we saw a very long line, it was for the exhibit, we waited over an hour just to get in, and when I first stepped inside this giant greenhouse I almost cried of happiness, it was so beautiful.. and there were so many butterflies flying all around me, and the flowers and plants and trees... AHHH
It's really neat, if you ever get a chance to go, you should go!

Thank you so much for the sweet comment! My mum had planted a great deal of flowers in our garden in order to attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and other insects. The butterflies would come right when the sun was setting in the late afternoon. I managed to capture this little guy while I was watering the garden.

~Oooh, I would love to go to a butterfly exhibit. I think that would be so cool!
